Asuria has been named among Australia’s most inclusive employers in the 2024-25 edition of the Diversity Council of Australia’s ‘Inclusive Employer Index’, the definitive list of companies most dedicated to Diversity & Inclusion, benchmarked against the average Australian workforce.
In the index published on 18 November 2024, Asuria excelled in areas such as ‘Inclusive Leadership’ with 67% of employees rating their managers as fostering diversity, equity and fair treatment - more than double the Australian workforce benchmark of 31%.
Asuria’s organisational inclusivity—it’s commitment to creating a culture where diversity is valued and celebrated—was rated as 74%, compared to the national benchmark of 52%, while 71% of Asuria’s teams were rated as inclusive by employees.
Translating into job satisfaction, performance, and retention, employees within Asuria’s inclusive teams were revealed as 2.9 times more likely to receive constructive feedback they found helpful and 8 times less likely to look for a new job within the next 12 months.
These outstanding results are driven and supported by the diversity of Asuria’s workforce, which features more than double the percentage of First Nations people versus the national average (4.9% of workforce compared to 2.1%), is comprised of 71% women (compared with the national average of 48%) and 14% of people who identify as LGBTIQ+. More than a quarter (26%) of Asuria’s workforce also live with disability, compared to the national workforce average of 9%.
Underlining the role diversity and inclusion plays in business performance, members of Asuria’s inclusive teams were revealed to be more likely to display high performance, in areas across:
- Effectiveness: 75% of employees in Asuria’s inclusive teams consistently report working effectively together, compared to 18% in non-inclusive teams.
- Innovation: Asuria’s inclusive teams are 3.9 times more likely to innovate, with 69% of employees always seeking new ideas compared to only 18% in non-inclusive teams.
- Customer Service: 78% of Asuria’s employees in inclusive teams consistently provide excellent service, nearly tripling the rate found in non-inclusive teams (29%).
- Extra Effort: Members of Asuria’s Inclusive teams report a high willingness to work extra hard to achieve team success, with 85% willing to go above and beyond compared to 46% in non-inclusive teams.
Based on industry and academic research, and subject to a process of continual refinement since 2017, The Inclusive Employer Index is compiled by surveying staff from participating organisations on their perceptions of, and experiences with, matters in the workplace related to Diversity.
