Discovering the real you

At Asuria, we believe in you. We respect you for who you are. We seek to understand your life experiences and the skills you have and we will value those experiences and skills.

We are all about your future and your well-being and your desire to gain a fulfilling, long-term job.

That’s everything we care about and want for you, so we won’t pre-judge you.

Because your future employment is our primary concern, we will concentrate on your strengths, we will value your experience and we will respect you for what you have achieved.

If need be, we have Allied Health professionals who will assist you to better understand who you are and provide assistance to move you closer to a job.

By better understanding who you are, we can help manage your expectations around what jobs will best match your capability level, either right now or with further training and development if that’s what it takes.

Importantly, we will help present your unique skills and experiences to employers so they will value you the ‘real’ you, and not base your application or interview on a perception of you.

Learn more about our discovery process

  • We get to know you and what you like, what you don’t like, what you’re good at…and what you want to get better at. We like to know what your interests are and what your work aspirations are.
  • We work with the you, your family, your friends, your supporters, your training providers and anyone else who is actively involved with you to make sure we get a clear picture of your potential and the sort of jobs that will help you achieve your aspirations.
  • From this information we identify your interests and those businesses in the community that are most strongly aligned with these interests;
  • We then develop a career/job profile, which is like a CV, but one that show’s your skills rather than using the traditional type of CV (which doesn’t always show abilities in the best way).
  • We meet with and work with businesses throughout the community, looking at their staff needs and how our clients can benefit them. All employers need good workers and our role is to match the right person to the right job role.
  • We find each person a job that matches their aspirations, with an employer who needs their talents.
  • We can arrange working interviews so you can show your skills to potential employers, instead of following traditional recruitment methods. Once you start work, we can support you to learn their new job role in the workplace, on the job.
  • If you need some more help to identify your talents and what kind of job you would like, we can organise Work Experience and trials in different companies and roles.

All this will help you make an informed decision about the type of job you would like to do in the future.

Working with your own Asuria Mentor

When you choose Asuria, we will meet with you face-to-face, take the time to listen to you, talk with you and importantly help coach and support you.

Your Asuria Mentor will ‘have your back’ every step of the way.

Your Asuria Mentor is someone who will personally get to know the ‘real you’, a person who cares about you and will help you gain a job with employers who may be looking for people with the skills, experience and interests that you have.

With our expertise of determining what employers are looking for and need, your Asuria Mentor will take the time to stand by your side, before you get your job.

Importantly, we will assist you on the road and your journey towards a job that suits your experience and skills and a job you will value for the long-term.

Asuria have access to a range of government assistance programs and. initiatives designed to help you prepare for the job you want, including: ParentsNext, Transition to Work, Career Transition Assistance, Youth Jobs PaTH, Justice, Skills for Education & Employment.

In addition, your Mentor can share experiences of other job seekers who have been in your shoes before you, so you can learn from their experiences.

Our goal is to give you the support you need to put you in the ‘driver’s seat’ of your job search, so you can get the job that works best for you and your future.

Getting the job for you

For over 20 years, Asuria has helped find meaningful, long-term jobs for tens of thousands of people just like you. We will prepare you, brief you, and help you every step of the way to get and keep the job you want.

We know that too often, your real potential has not been communicated to, or recognised by employers and that’s where we provide help for you to get the job you want.

In many cases, that means a job that will change your life for the better.

To achieve this we will never treat you like a ‘number’ and simply ‘tick the boxes’.

We won’t send you to needless job interviews that you won’t be suited to - and we will only advise you to do training or courses that will help you get the kind of job you want and that is likely to be available.

We are also here to help you with your job interview preparation such as the kind of interview questions to expect and how best to respond to them.

Once you get your job we will help with those things you need to turn up to the job, such as workwear clothing, safety gear and much more.

When you are employed, we will still be with you to mentor and advise you and offer any help you might need to ensure you have the maximum chance of staying in your new job for the long-term.

We will be there for you in the following months to make sure everything is going in the right direction - and that direction is a job that works for you and your future.

What our people say

I'm not used to having normal healthy support, it's always been support with motive, but it's actually really healthy support. To know that I'm supported in that way and that I'm not just another number, it's a really nice feeling!
Just having someone there that was genuinely concerned and interested in what I was doing really inspired me.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose a Disability Employment Services (DES) provider?

It can be hard to know what to look for in a Disability Employment Services (DES) Provider and even harder to tell if your current provider is doing a good job.

  1. Are you understood?

A Disability Employment Services Provider needs to take the time to build a relationship with you to help you find your best potential.

  1. Commitment and flexibility.

Your Job Coach should commit to supporting you in a way that works for you. There needs to be flexibility in communications to fit in with your life and needs. Ideally, you will have options to call, text, facetime or check in at locations that suit you.

  1. Experience and Support

Your Job Coach should help you arrange and prepare you for interviews. Importantly they should be there to support you before the interview and at the end of the interview so you can debrief and learn from the experience.

  1. Ongoing support

There needs to be a commitment to ongoing support for you and your employer after you start your new job. You should ask when you start with your Job Coach what their post-placement support involves and how they will continue to assist you to perform your best.

  1. Your choice matters.

You should feel comfortable in making this journey with the people you choose. We highly recommend speaking with your future Job Coach before you transfer to ensure you’re making the right decision.

Am I eligible for Disability Employment Services (DES)?

We recommend contacting us regarding your eligibility, however you can use the general eligibility requirements below as a guide.

In general you are eligible if you:

  • have a disability, injury or health condition;
  • are aged at least 14 but have not yet attained the Age Pension qualifying age;
  • are at or above the minimum legal working age in their state or territory;
  • have a future work capacity with intervention of at least eight hours per week;
  • are an Australian resident;
  • are not studying full time (unless you're an eligible early school leaver) and
  • are not working at or above your employment benchmark hours

We can help you check your eligibility
