Meet the Employer event leads to 100 job offers

3 minute read

Care Sector employers in Adelaide North together dished out  100 job offers at a Meet the Employer event in Adelaide North in October, overseen by Local Jobs & Skills Program Taskforce Employment Facilitator, Paul Williams of Asuria.

The 20 employers in attendance spent an afternoon engaging with job seekers, resulting in 400 opportunities set to be explored with candidates after the event, including potential offers of employment, additional training, traineeships, up-skilling and reference checks.

The event also featured 12 employment service providers and close to 150 job ready job seekers, many of whom walked away with multiple job offers and expressions of interest for roles including: Domestic Assistant, Caregiver Role, Home Support Worker, Client Support Worker, Disability Support Worker, General Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker and Registered Nurse.

Led by Paul, the day built on six months of stakeholder engagement, which saw the Local Jobs Taskforce in conversation with employers and employment service providers to see how each can better support job seekers into roles in the Care Sector.

Commenting on the event, Ann Marie of The National Security Training Academy said the Meet the Employer event was: “A great opportunity to connect Jobseekers, Employment Service Providers with Employers offering real employment pathways and employment outcomes.”

While Adelaide North Local Jobs & Skills Taskforce Employment Facilitator, Paul Williams of Asuria, said: “Our thanks go out to all the jobs seekers who brought their energy and enthusiasm along with them to the event; you made us proud.”

Set up to create a COVID-19 recovery plan and chaired by Paul Williams since January 2021, The Adelaide North Local Jobs Program, along with its Taskforce, brings together expertise, resources, and access to funding in Adelaide North to focus on reskilling, upskilling and employment pathways through the disbursement of a $780,000 Local Recovery Fund.
