A cut above the rest for their quality products and genuine belief in giving everyone a chance, the Ballarat Meat Company, in collaboration with Asuria, are working together to create fulfilling employment opportunities for unemployed Ballarat locals.
Since beginning their partnership three years ago, Asuria’s Ballarat Workforce Australia Team have placed 30 job seekers into work with the Ballarat Meat Company, across a variety of roles including administration and pick packing.
The family run butcher has been operating for 30 years, across three generations, and is one of Ballarat’s staple family businesses. So, when owner’s Daniel and Leanne needed help building their team, they spoke with Asuria Employment Expert Brad for assistance.
When the first placement was a success, Daniel and Leanne continued to reach out to Brad for their recruitment needs, which according to Leanne, was the start of a strong relationship.
“We’ve worked with Brad from Asuria for over three years now, and Brad has always been great. Asuria has provided us with suitable and job-ready candidates who match our business needs. The candidates also fit really well with our team,” said Leanne.
Asuria and Ballarat Meat Company have been instrumental in providing opportunities for long term unemployed job seekers facing significant barriers and adversities. While some of them have since moved on to other roles, employment at Ballarat Meat Company gave them the chance to return to the workforce and prove themselves, while owners Leanne and Daniel continue building a high performing team.
Brad praises Leanne and Daniel’s genuine approach of hiring as they focus less on experience, and more on values and work ethics. “Daniel and Leanne are down to earth and always willing to give anyone a go if they have a good work ethic and a good attitude. They never judge and are great teachers to our candidates,” said Brad.

One of Asuria’s most recent placements comes from long-term unemployed candidate, Rachael, who has been with the Ballarat Meat Company for five months now as a Bookkeeper.
Rachael, a stay-at home mum for 20 years, was unable to return to work after a traumatic incident. Having previously worked in administration, Rachael wanted to go back to the career she loved, and when Rachael was ready, Asuria was in her corner, ready to assist her.
Asuria Employment Expert Brad and Mentor Tiarna, set Rachael up with an interview, a new wardrobe and fuel vouchers to help her prepare, and before long, Rachael became a valued member of the Ballarat Meat Company Team.
“My job makes me feel very happy, and now that I’m actually employed, it gives me a purpose every day. I feel great coming to work and it’s exciting because every day is different, and I really like the people that I work with, everyone has been really supportive,” said Rachael.
The efforts of the Ballarat Meat Company to be open minded in their recruitment has given many Asuria job seekers the chance to find meaningful employment and a fresh start. Asuria is looking forward to continuing to work with the Ballarat Meat Company to further provide long-term employment opportunities to Ballarat locals.
