Why participate in the workshop?
As part of the Self-Employment Assistance program, the BizAbility workshop will help you explore the possibility of becoming your own boss and provide you with all the tools and support to turn your business dreams into a reality.
This workshop is designed to help you plan your business idea and help you to understand what it's like to start your own business.
When: 19 September - 5 October
Duration: Three weeks, with 2 sessions per week (Tuesday/Thursday)
Time: 9:30am - 2:30pm AEST
Delivery: Mixture of face-to-face and online learning
Where: This workshop will be run in the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Mildura, Hobart, Ballarat, Canberra, South Coast Victoria, Mid North Coast, Adelaide, Shepparton, Bendigo, Marrickville, and Chatswood. Please contact us should you have any questions regarding the location.

September Intake
What will you learn in the workshop?
- Getting started: Understand the world of small business and what it means to be an entrepreneur
- Business idea generation and validation: Identify opportunities with consideration of the local region and emerging industries
- Start-up essentials: Learn the legal requirements for registering a business and how to do it
- Going digital: Create a website including domain name registration and website building/hosting services
- Branding and marketing: Understand branding and knowing the value that the customers will receive from the business idea
Our Business Mentors have over 275 combined years of running their own businesses
Our Asuria Business Mentors have 275 combined years of running their own businesses across 26 industries. Now they have turned their focus to mentoring, and are here to share all their self-employment experiences with you as dedicated Business Mentors.
When you team up with an Asuria Business Mentor, they can offer advice, support and guidance, which can help you improve your
problem-solving skills and empower you with the right tools and tips to achieve your goals.

Are you eligible to participate in the workshop?
To be eligible to attend the workshop, you must:
- Currently be a Disability Employment Services (DES) participant or a Workforce Australia participant
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Not be prohibited by law from working in Australia
- Not be an overseas visitor on a working holiday visa or an overseas student studying in Australia
- Not be an undischarged bankrupt

How the Self-Employment Assistance program can help you get your business off the ground and running
Fine Tuning Your Ideas
Ensures all participants make informed decisions, including expert analysis, advice and best approach to ensure success.
Income Support
39 weeks of Self-Employment Assistance income support and 26 weeks of rental assistance (for eligible participants only). You can also receive a $300 reimbursement to assist with your eligible business costs (such as business insurance).
Small Business Training
Achieve an accredited qualification, with flexible learning options along the way so that you can succeed in your small business goals.
12 Months of Support
Including a Self-Employment Workshop, help to develop a business plan, small business coaching, one-on-one advice sessions with your expert mentor and business health checks.
Local Service Delivery
Easy to access administration and services team including locally based coordinators, Business Mentors and trainers.
